  • 1/8 cup cornmeal

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, thoroughly combine the bread flour, instant yeast, garlic salt, and grated Parmesan cheese.
  2. Measure the water, then incorporate the minced garlic directly into the water.
  3. Pour the garlic-infused water into the dry ingredient mixture. Stir until all the flour is fully hydrated and a cohesive, albeit very sticky, dough forms.
  4. Cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap and allow the dough to proof at room temperature for 1 1/2 hours.
  5. Generously sprinkle cornmeal over a large piece of parchment paper. Carefully transfer the sticky dough onto the prepared parchment. Gently shape the dough into a round loaf, then sprinkle additional cornmeal over its surface. Cover again with plastic wrap and allow it to rest for an additional 1/2 hour.
  6. Preheat the slow cooker on the high setting for approximately 5 minutes. Remove the plastic wrap from the dough, then carefully use the parchment paper to transfer the shaped dough into the preheated slow cooker. Trim or tuck any excess parchment paper edges to ensure the lid fits securely.
  7. Place a layer of paper towels over the slow cooker, then securely position the lid on top. The paper towels will absorb condensation, preventing it from dripping onto the bread.
  8. Cook the bread on the high setting for 2 hours. Once cooked, carefully remove the bread from the slow cooker.
  9. For a more pronounced brown and crispy crust, transfer the cooked bread to an oven preheated to 400°F and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes.
