Description

Pepperoni and Burrata Pizza with Pesto is a delicious and unique twist on a classic pizza. The combination of spicy pepperoni, creamy burrata, and aromatic basil pesto makes every bite an indulgent experience.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup warm water (240ml)
  • 1 envelope active dry yeast (1/4 oz/21g)
  • 2 teaspoons sugar (8g)
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil (13.3g) + for greasing the bowl
  • 4 cups bread flour (480g)
  • 3 teaspoons salt (17g)
  • 1/2 pack mini pepperoni or regular-sized pepperoni
  • 4 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 burrata cheese (about 4 ounces)
  • 23 tablespoons basil pesto
  • Fresh cherry tomatoes, split in half (for garnish)
  • Fresh basil (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough: In a bowl, mix warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for a few minutes to activate the yeast. In a separate bowl, combine bread flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil to the flour mixture. Knead until the dough forms a ball. Cover and let rise for 1-2 hours or refrigerate for up to 24 hours.
  2. Shape the dough: Punch the dough down, then shape it into a ball. Roll out into a round pizza crust on a floured surface.
  3. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C), placing a pizza stone inside if you have one. Let the oven heat for about 20 minutes.
  4. Assemble the pizza: Place the rolled-out dough on a floured pizza peel or baking sheet. Brush with olive oil, then add a thin layer of tomato sauce. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese and mini pepperoni evenly over the dough.
  5. Bake the pizza: Slide the pizza onto the pizza stone or place it on the baking sheet. Bake for 7-10 minutes until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling.
  6. Add burrata and pesto: Remove the pizza from the oven and tear the burrata into pieces. Scatter it over the pizza, then drizzle with pesto. Return the pizza to the oven for another 3-4 minutes until the burrata is slightly warmed.
  7. Finish and serve: Remove the pizza from the oven and let it rest for a couple of minutes. Garnish with halved cherry tomatoes and fresh basil. Slice and enjoy!
