- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together 1 cup all-purpose flour, baking powder, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and garlic powder for the dumplings.
- Stir in the milk and melted butter just until a soft dough forms. Set aside.
- Heat a large deep skillet over medium heat and add the olive oil.
- Season the chicken with 1/2 teaspoon salt and black pepper, then add it to the skillet. Cook for 5 to 6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until lightly golden.
- Add the diced onion and cook for 3 minutes until softened. Stir in the garlic, smoked paprika, red pepper flakes, and tomato paste.
- Sprinkle in 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour and stir for 30 seconds.
- Pour in the chicken broth and heavy cream, scraping the bottom of the pan. Stir in the parmesan cheese and bring to a gentle simmer.
- Drop heaping spoonfuls of dumpling dough evenly over the sauce.
- Cover the skillet, reduce heat to medium-low, and cook for 12 to 15 minutes until the dumplings are puffed and cooked through.
- Remove the lid, sprinkle with chopped parsley and extra red pepper flakes if desired, then rest for 2 minutes before serving.
