Ingredients

  • 400g firm tofu
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: A squeeze of lime or lemon
  • Optional: Chili flakes

Instructions

  1. Drain your tofu for 15 minutes.
  2. Slice the tofu into about 1/2-inch slabs.
  3. Mix the marinade: soy sauce, oil, syrup, garlic powder, and smoked paprika in a bowl.
  4. Lay tofu pieces in a dish or zip-top bag and pour marinade over them. Toss gently and let marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  5. Preheat your grill or grill pan to medium-high and brush grates with oil.
  6. Place tofu slabs on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes until grill marks appear. Flip and grill the other side for about 3-4 minutes.
  7. Remove tofu and let it rest for a minute. Squeeze lime or lemon over the top or add chili flakes.
