- 5 large potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 300g ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1/2 cup tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). In a bowl, toss the potato slices with olive oil, melted butter, garlic powder, thyme, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the ground beef until browned. Add chopped onion and garlic, sautéing until softened and fragrant. Stir in tomato paste, tomato sauce, paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper. Let the mixture simmer for 5-7 minutes until thick and rich.
- Grease a baking dish or muffin tray. Layer potato slices at the bottom, add a spoonful of beef filling, then repeat layers finishing with potatoes on top.
- Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil, sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top, and bake uncovered for another 15-20 minutes until the cheese is melted and golden.
- Remove from oven, let cool slightly, then sprinkle with fresh parsley before serving.
