- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 stalks celery, chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 1 can (28 ounces) diced tomatoes
- 1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
- 1 can (15 ounces) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can (15 ounces) pinto beans, drained and rinsed
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup water
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon white vinegar
Instructions
- In a large pot, brown the ground beef over medium heat, breaking it into crumbles. Drain excess fat.
- Add chopped onion, celery, and green bell pepper. Cook for about 5 minutes until softened.
- Stir in diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, kidney beans, and pinto beans.
- Season with chili powder, ground cumin, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and sugar.
- Pour in water and stir everything well.
- Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to low. Simmer uncovered for 45–60 minutes.
- Just before serving, stir in white vinegar for brightness.
- Serve hot with your favorite toppings or store for later.
