Description
Warm Caramel Bread Pudding is a delightful dessert made with cubed bread soaked in a rich custard and topped with caramel sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 cups of day-old bread, cubed (French bread or brioche works best)
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- Optional: Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for serving
Instructions
- Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.
- In a large bowl, combine the cubed bread. Set aside to allow it to dry out slightly.
- In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
- Pour the egg mixture over the cubed bread, gently folding to coat all the pieces evenly. Let it sit for about 10 minutes to allow the bread to soak up the liquid.
- Drizzle half of the caramel sauce over the soaked bread mixture, stirring gently to incorporate.
- Pour the entire mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
- Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden and the center is set.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes before serving.
- Drizzle the remaining caramel sauce over the top before serving. Optional: Add a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra treat.
