Description

A delightful Southern dessert blending the rich flavors of pecans with a sweet, moist texture, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup vegetable oil or melted butter
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Gather all your ingredients and pre-measure them for a smooth process.
  2. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  3. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray. Alternatively, line it with parchment paper.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the sugar, brown sugar, vegetable oil or melted butter, and eggs until smooth.
  5. In a separate bowl, stir together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring gently until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
  7. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  8. Fold in the chopped pecans evenly into the batter.
  9. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 30–35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  11. Allow to cool completely in the pan before slicing into squares.

Notes

  • For a healthier option, use coconut oil instead of vegetable oil or butter.
  • For a vegan option, substitute eggs with flaxseed meal mixed with water.
  • You can replace pecans with chocolate chips or dried fruits like cranberries.
