Instructions
- Macerate the strawberries: In a bowl, toss sliced strawberries with sugar. Let sit for about 10 minutes, gently folding every couple of minutes, until berries release their juices.
- Prepare the whipped cream: If using store-bought, fold vanilla extract into the whipped cream. If making fresh, whip cream until soft peaks form, then gently fold in vanilla extract.
- Layer the trifle: In individual jars or glasses, start with a layer of pound cake cubes. Top with a layer of macerated strawberries, ensuring some juice is included. Dollop with whipped cream.
- Repeat layers: Continue layering pound cake, strawberries, and whipped cream until the jars are nearly full, ending with a layer of whipped cream. Gently press each layer to prevent air pockets.
- Chill before serving: Cover the jars and refrigerate for at least 1 hour (2 hours is better) to allow flavors to meld and the cake to absorb some juice.

- For a lighter cake option, angel food cake can be used.
- Coconut whipped cream is a good dairy-free alternative.
- Honey can be used instead of sugar for the strawberries, adjusting the amount for sweetness.
