  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for cream)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine sliced strawberries with ½ cup sugar. Let them sit for at least 30 minutes to draw out the juices.
  2. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  3. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, beat softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  5. Incorporate eggs one at a time, followed by vanilla extract.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients and milk, mixing until just combined.
  7. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  8. Divide the batter evenly between the pans.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  10. Allow cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
  11. In a chilled bowl, beat heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla, continuing to whip until stiff peaks form.
  12. Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of macerated strawberries and whipped cream on top.
  13. Place the second cake layer on top and repeat the process.
  14. Cover the top and sides of the cake with the remaining whipped cream.
  15. Decorate with additional strawberries for a beautiful finish.
