Description
Strawberry Puff Pastry Danishes are flaky pastries filled with sweet strawberries and a creamy layer, perfect for a weekend morning.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, diced
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 1–2 teaspoons milk (for glaze)
Instructions
- Prepare the Strawberry Filling: In a small bowl, gently toss the diced strawberries with granulated sugar and cornstarch.
- Make the Cream Cheese Layer: In another bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
- Shape the Puff Pastry: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Roll out the puff pastry slightly and cut it into 4 equal squares. Score a smaller square inside each piece.
- Add the Filling: Spread a spoonful of the cream cheese mixture inside each scored square and top with the strawberry mixture.
- Egg Wash and Bake: Whisk together the egg and water, then brush it along the edges of each pastry. Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and golden.
- Add the Glaze: Whisk powdered sugar with milk to create a smooth glaze and drizzle it over the warm pastries.
- Let them cool just enough to avoid burning your fingers.
Notes
- Use fresh strawberries for the best flavor.
- Don’t overfill the pastries to prevent spilling.
