Ingredients

- 1 whole fish (about 2–3 pounds), cleaned and scaled
- 3 tablespoons fresh ginger, peeled and julienned
- 3 scallions, cut into 2-inch pieces
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Pat the fish dry with paper towels and season the cavity and outside of the fish with salt and pepper.
- Place the fish in a steamer basket and arrange the ginger and scallions on top.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, and sugar.
- Pour the sauce over the fish and scallions.
- Steam the fish for 15-20 minutes, or until the flesh is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.
- Carefully transfer the steamed fish to a serving platter. Spoon the ginger and scallions from the steamer over the top.
- Serve the Steamed Whole Fish with Ginger immediately, with additional soy sauce and lemon wedges on the side.
