- 1/2 cup brown sugar

- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Grease a cake pan and pour in melted butter and brown sugar. Arrange sliced pears in a fan pattern on top.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger.
- In a separate bowl, beat butter and granulated sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.
- Gradually add dry ingredients and milk to the butter mixture, alternating and mixing until just combined.
- Pour batter over the pears and smooth the top.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 40–45 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let cool for 10 minutes in the pan, then invert onto a plate while warm.
- Serve warm with whipped cream, ice cream, or on its own.
