- 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup (65g) granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup (113g) cold unsalted butter, cubed
- 1 cup (240g) full-fat sour cream
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon milk (for brushing)
- 2 tablespoons coarse sugar
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl until combined.
- Add the cold cubed butter to the flour mixture and work it in until resembling coarse crumbs.
- Whisk the sour cream, egg, and vanilla extract in a separate bowl until smooth.
- Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and gently stir until the dough comes together.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and press it into a round disc about 1 inch thick.
- Cut the disc into 8 equal triangles and place them on the baking sheet.
- Brush the tops with milk, sprinkle with coarse sugar, and bake for 16–20 minutes until golden brown.
- Allow to cool on the baking sheet before transferring to a rack, then serve warm or at room temperature.
