- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1/3 cup molasses
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour (300 grams)
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground ginger
- Granulated sugar for rolling
- 1 tablespoon melted butter (for glaze)
- 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup (for glaze)
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar (180 grams) (for glaze)
- 2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
- Pinch of salt (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cream butter and sugar in the bowl of a stand mixer until light and fluffy. Add egg and molasses, mixing until incorporated.
- In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda, salt, and ginger. Gradually add to the wet ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Scoop dough into small balls, slightly smaller than a golf ball. Roll each ball in granulated sugar.
- Place dough balls on a baking sheet and bake for 9-11 minutes, or until the edges are slightly golden. Let cool slightly before transferring to a wire rack.
- To make the glaze, whisk together melted butter, maple syrup, powdered sugar, and milk until smooth. If the glaze is too thick, add more milk, a teaspoon at a time.
- Dip one side of the cooled cookies into the maple glaze, letting any excess glaze drip off. Place the glazed cookies on wax paper and allow the glaze to set before serving.

- Adjust the thickness of the glaze to your preference by adding more or less milk.
