- ¾ cup (170 g) unsalted butter, softened
- ¾ cup (150 g) granulated sugar
- ¼ cup (50 g) brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 ½ cups (190 g) all-purpose flour
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp cream of tartar
- ¼ tsp salt
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9-inch baking dish lightly with butter.
- Make the apple filling: In a bowl, toss sliced apples with brown sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, cornstarch, and vanilla. Spread evenly into the prepared dish.
- Prepare the snickerdoodle topping: Cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla; beat until smooth.
- Combine dry ingredients: In another bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt. Gradually mix into the butter mixture until combined.
- Assemble: Drop spoonfuls of dough over the apples, spreading gently to cover most of the surface. Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over the top.
- Bake: Bake 35–40 minutes, until golden and bubbling around the edges.
- Cool slightly: Allow to rest for 10 minutes before serving warm.
