Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound Salmon Fillet (skin-on or skinless)
  • 1 teaspoon Kosher Salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper (freshly ground)
  • 2 cloves Garlic Cloves (sliced thinly)
  • 1 small Shallot (can be substituted with onion)
  • 1 medium Orange (half juiced, half sliced)
  • 1 medium Lemon (prepared the same as orange)
  • 2 tablespoons Capers (adjust quantity based on preference)
  • 1 tablespoon Caper Juice (from capers)
  • 1 teaspoon Aleppo Pepper (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons Extra-Virgin Olive Oil (for greasing and drizzling)
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted Butter (cold and cubed, omit for dairy-free)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. In a bowl, combine sliced garlic, shallots, capers, caper juice, salt, and pepper with olive oil and citrus juices. Whisk to create vinaigrette.
  3. On a parchment-lined baking tray, layer half of the sliced lemon and orange with the reserved garlic and shallots. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  4. Lay the salmon fillet skin side down on the citrus bed. Season with black pepper, kosher salt, and drizzle with olive oil. Cover with remaining citrus slices.
  5. Pour the vinaigrette mixture around the salmon and dot with cubed unsalted butter.
  6. Place the tray in the oven and bake for 25-35 minutes until internal temperature is 125-145°F.
  7. Allow the salmon to cool slightly before flaking or slicing for serving.
