- 1 teaspoon Kosher Salt (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon Black Pepper (freshly ground)
- 2 cloves Garlic Cloves (sliced thinly)
- 1 small Shallot (can be substituted with onion)
- 1 medium Orange (half juiced, half sliced)
- 1 medium Lemon (prepared the same as orange)
- 2 tablespoons Capers (adjust quantity based on preference)
- 1 tablespoon Caper Juice (from capers)
- 1 teaspoon Aleppo Pepper (optional)
- 2 tablespoons Extra-Virgin Olive Oil (for greasing and drizzling)
- 2 tablespoons Unsalted Butter (cold and cubed, omit for dairy-free)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C).
- In a bowl, combine sliced garlic, shallots, capers, caper juice, salt, and pepper with olive oil and citrus juices. Whisk to create vinaigrette.
- On a parchment-lined baking tray, layer half of the sliced lemon and orange with the reserved garlic and shallots. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
- Lay the salmon fillet skin side down on the citrus bed. Season with black pepper, kosher salt, and drizzle with olive oil. Cover with remaining citrus slices.
- Pour the vinaigrette mixture around the salmon and dot with cubed unsalted butter.
- Place the tray in the oven and bake for 25-35 minutes until internal temperature is 125-145°F.
- Allow the salmon to cool slightly before flaking or slicing for serving.
