- 1 loaf French bread (about 14 oz), cut into 1-inch cubes
- 6 large eggs
- 1 ½ cups (355 ml) milk
- ½ cup (120 ml) heavy cream
- ⅓ cup (67g) granulated sugar
- ⅓ cup (71g) brown sugar
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 1 ½ tsp ground cinnamon
- ¼ tsp nutmeg
- ¼ tsp salt
- Optional toppings: powdered sugar, maple syrup, fresh berries, chopped nuts
- Fresh or frozen blueberries, raspberries, or chopped apples
- Chocolate chips or cinnamon chips
- Chopped pecans or walnuts
- Swirls of cream cheese or Nutella
Instructions
- Cut bread into 1-inch cubes. If fresh, let it sit out or lightly toast.
- Spray the slow cooker with non-stick spray or coat with butter.
- Add bread cubes evenly into the slow cooker.
- Whisk eggs, milk, cream, sugars, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt together.
- Press bread down gently to soak up the mixture.
- Cook on LOW for 6–7 hours or HIGH for 2.5–3 hours, until set and golden.
- Scoop into bowls and top with syrup, powdered sugar, or fruit.
