Ingredients

- 1 lb ground beef (or ground lamb for a traditional version)
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 cup frozen peas and carrots
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- ½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- ½ cup beef broth
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 3 cups prepared mashed potatoes (fresh or store-bought)
- ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional topping)
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a large oven-safe skillet, cook ground beef and onion over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in tomato paste, Worcestershire, broth, peas and carrots, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5–7 minutes until thickened.
- Spoon mashed potatoes over the beef mixture and smooth into an even layer. Sprinkle with cheddar if using.
- For a golden top, broil for 2–3 minutes until lightly browned and bubbly.
- Garnish with parsley and serve hot.
