Description
Easy and impressive brunch recipe featuring flaky croissants filled with ham and melted cheese, ready in under 30 minutes using store-bought dough.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package store-bought croissant dough (usually 8 rolls)
- 8 thin slices ham (about 6 oz or 170g), preferably smoked deli ham
- 8 slices cheese (about 4 oz or 115g), Swiss or Gruyère recommended
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon milk (15 ml)
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard (optional)
- Fresh herbs like thyme or chives (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Unroll croissant dough onto a clean surface. If not pre-cut, slice into 8 equal triangles.
- Lay one slice of ham on each dough triangle, leaving a small border around edges. Add a slice of cheese on top. If using, spread mustard on dough before ham and sprinkle herbs over cheese.
- Roll up croissants starting at the wide end toward the point, curving ends inward to form crescent shape. Place on prepared baking sheet, point side down.
- Whisk egg and milk in a small bowl. Brush each croissant with egg wash.
- Bake for 15-18 minutes until croissants are puffed, golden, and cheese is melted. Check after 12 minutes to avoid burning.
- Let croissants cool on a rack for about 5 minutes before serving.
