Description
These sauteed mushrooms with garlic are a flavorful and quick side dish that enhances any meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound mushrooms (brown, white, cremini, or portobello)
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons butter
- ¼ cup white wine (optional)
- 1 sprig fresh thyme (or pinch of dried thyme)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Chopped fresh chives for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Clean mushrooms by gently wiping them with a damp paper towel or using a mushroom brush. Slice the mushrooms into thick slices (about ½ inch).
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add butter and olive oil to the pan. Allow the butter to melt and the oil to heat up.
- Once the oil is hot, add the mushrooms to the pan. Let them cook for 4-5 minutes without stirring to allow them to brown and caramelize.
- Add the soy sauce to the pan, then allow the mushrooms to continue cooking for another 2-3 minutes.
- If using white wine, pour it in now and allow it to cook off, about 1 minute.
- Add the minced garlic and thyme. Continue to cook, stirring occasionally, for an additional 2-3 minutes until the mushrooms are fully cooked and tender.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. Garnish with chopped fresh chives if desired.
