Description

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1¾ cups milk
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tsp cocoa powder (for red velvet swirl)
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar (for swirl)
  • 1 tbsp red food coloring
  • ½ tsp vinegar (optional)

Instructions

  1. Whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, salt, and sugar in a bowl.
  2. In another bowl, whisk eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla.
  3. Stir wet ingredients into dry until just combined.
  4. Remove ¾ cup batter, mix with extra cocoa, sugar, food coloring, and vinegar.
  5. Lightly grease and heat the waffle iron.
  6. Add base batter, dollop red batter on top, and gently swirl.
  7. Close waffle iron and cook 4–6 minutes until crisp.
  8. Enjoy warm with desired toppings.
