Description

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp whole milk
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • Gel or red food coloring (optional, to tint frosting pink)

Instructions

  1. Mix warm whole milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit ~5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  3. Gradually add sifted flour, salt, and (optional) gel red food coloring.
  4. Knead 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise 1 hour or until doubled.
  6. Punch down the risen dough and roll it into a 1/4-inch thick rectangle.
  7. Spread softened butter over the surface.
  8. Sprinkle brown sugar + cinnamon mixture evenly.
  9. Roll into a tight log and slice into 12 rolls.
  10. Place rolls in a greased baking dish.
  11. Cover and let rise 30 minutes.
  12. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  13. Bake rolls 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
  14. Let cool slightly before frosting.
  15. Beat together cream cheese and butter until fluffy.
  16. Add vanilla and milk.
  17. Mix in powdered sugar + pinch of salt until smooth.
  18. Add pink food coloring if desired.
  19. Spread onto warm rolls so it melts slightly.

  • Ensure the milk is warm, not hot, to activate the yeast.
  • You can adjust the amount of cinnamon based on your preference.
