Description

Pear Maple and Pecan Tarte Tatin is a stunning fall dessert with caramelized pears, buttery puff pastry, and toasted pecans, flipped upside down in true French fashion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 to 4 ripe but firm pears
  • 1/3 cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup pecans, toasted
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)

Instructions

  1. In an oven-safe skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
  2. Stir in maple syrup and brown sugar until bubbly and smooth.
  3. Let the mixture cook for 2 to 3 minutes until it thickens slightly.
  4. Scatter the toasted pecans evenly into the skillet.
  5. Slice pears and arrange them in a circular pattern over the pecans.
  6. Lightly roll out the puff pastry to fit the skillet, then place it over the pears.
  7. Tuck in the edges of the pastry and cut a few small slits on top.
  8. Bake at 375°F for 30 to 35 minutes until golden and puffed.
  9. Let rest for 5 minutes, then carefully invert the tart onto a plate.
