Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • ¾ cup (90 g) all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup (45 g) rolled oats
  • ½ cup (100 g) brown sugar
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp cardamom
  • ½ cup (115 g) cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • Scoop of vanilla ice cream or dollop of whipped cream
  • Sprinkle of chopped pistachios

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly butter an 8-inch baking dish.
  2. Prepare the filling: In a bowl, combine sliced pears, brown sugar, lemon juice, cardamom, cinnamon, and cornstarch. Toss until evenly coated. Pour into the prepared dish.
  3. Make the crumble topping: In another bowl, mix flour, oats, brown sugar, salt, and cardamom. Add cold butter and rub between fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Assemble: Sprinkle the crumble mixture evenly over the pears.
  5. Bake: Bake for 35–40 minutes, until the topping is golden and the filling is bubbling around the edges.
  6. Cool slightly: Let rest for 10–15 minutes before serving.
  7. Serve: Spoon into bowls and top with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, or a drizzle of honey.
