- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup mixed dried fruits
- 1 cup chopped nuts
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup brandy or orange juice
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk and brandy/orange juice.
- Fold in the mixed dried fruits and chopped nuts.
- Pour the batter into a greased and floured cake pan.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
