- 12 mozzarella string cheese sticks
- 1 cup all-purpose flour (120 g)
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 1/2 cups panko breadcrumbs (90 g)
- 1/2 cup regular breadcrumbs (60 g)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)
- 1/4 cup oil (from frying or fresh)
- 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Cut mozzarella sticks if desired and freeze for at least 1 hour.
- Place flour in one bowl, whisk eggs with milk in another, and mix breadcrumbs with spices in a third bowl.
- Dip each stick in flour, then egg, then breadcrumbs. Repeat for a double coating.
- Freeze coated sticks for 30 minutes to prevent melting during frying.
- Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry sticks for 1–2 minutes until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
- Mix oil with cayenne, paprika, brown sugar, garlic powder, chili powder, and salt.
- Brush or toss mozzarella sticks in the Nashville hot sauce.
- Serve immediately while hot, crispy, and melty.
