Description
Mini Apple Pies With Puff Pastry are easy, delicious, and made with just five simple ingredients. These individual servings are a fun twist on the classic apple pie, featuring a cinnamon-spiced apple filling wrapped in a flaky puff pastry.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 small apples, diced
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 sheet puff pastry dough, thawed
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- 2 teaspoons powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Lightly spray 9 cups of a muffin tin with oil.
- In a medium skillet, sauté diced apples, butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon over medium-high heat for 2–3 minutes until the apples begin to release juices. Cover, reduce heat to medium, and cook for 10 minutes. Uncover and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the liquid evaporates.
- Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to about 11×11 inches. Cut the dough into 9 squares using a sharp knife or pizza cutter.
- Press each puff pastry square into the muffin tin cups, stretching the dough slightly to fit. Make sure the dough hangs over the edges of the tin.
- Fill each pastry cup with about 3/4 full of the cooked apple mixture.
- Fold the edges of the pastry over the top of the apples to form a rustic shape. Leave a couple of air vents and pinch the dough to seal.
- Brush the tops of the pies with the egg wash and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and flaky.
- Let the pies cool for 8-10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
