Description

Delight in these Maple Donut Bars from Scratch, featuring soft, fluffy textures and rich flavors that satisfy your cravings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 teaspoons Active Dry Yeast
  • 1 cup Warm Milk
  • 1/3 cup Sugar
  • 1/4 cup Melted Butter
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 3 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 cups Powdered Sugar
  • 1/4 cup Maple Syrup
  • 2 tablespoons Milk

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine active dry yeast with warm milk and a pinch of sugar. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a larger bowl, mix the foamy yeast mixture with sugar, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract. Gradually add the flour and salt, stirring until a soft dough starts to form.
  3. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface. Knead for 5-6 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a cloth, and let it rise for about 1 hour.
  5. Roll the dough out into a ½ inch thick rectangle. Cut it into bars and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat oil in a deep pot to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Carefully fry the bars for 1-2 minutes on each side until golden brown. Let them drain on paper towels.
  8. In a medium bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, maple syrup, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  9. Dip each fried bar into the glaze, allowing the excess to drip off. Set on a wire rack.
