Description

A cheesy, hearty casserole that combines the flavors of classic cheesesteak with a low carb twist, perfect for family dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs ground beef (preferably 80/20 fat ratio)
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 2 large bell peppers (green, red, or mixed), diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 oz provolone cheese, sliced
  • 1.5 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and spray a 9×13 baking dish with non-stick spray.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.
  3. Add the diced onions and bell peppers to the hot oil, cooking for 5-6 minutes until they soften and become fragrant.
  4. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds, stirring constantly to avoid burning.
  5. Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with your spatula as it cooks. Season generously with salt and pepper, cooking for 7-8 minutes until browned and no pink remains. Drain any excess fat if necessary.
  6. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce to coat the meat mixture, enhancing the flavors.
  7. Reduce the heat to low and add the softened cream cheese, stirring until it’s completely melted and creamy.
  8. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly across the bottom.
  9. Layer the torn provolone pieces over the beef mixture, then sprinkle shredded mozzarella on top.
  10. Bake for 22-25 minutes until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and lightly golden on top.
  11. Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld together.
