- 1 packet active dry yeast (about 2 1/4 teaspoons)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup warm water (about 110°F)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- assorted fillings (e.g., leftover taco meat, spinach, pepperoni)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast, and 1 teaspoon salt. Stir them together until blended.
- Slowly pour in 1 cup of warm water and 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
- Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for 5-10 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
- Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle on a floured surface.
- Generously layer your assorted fillings across the dough.
- Starting from one end, carefully roll the dough tightly, sealing in the fillings.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F.
- Place the rolled loaf seam-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Gently brush the top with olive oil or melted butter.
- Slide the bread into the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until it’s golden brown.
