Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast, and 1 teaspoon salt. Stir them together until blended.
  2. Slowly pour in 1 cup of warm water and 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for 5-10 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
  5. Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle on a floured surface.
  6. Generously layer your assorted fillings across the dough.
  7. Starting from one end, carefully roll the dough tightly, sealing in the fillings.
  8. Preheat your oven to 375°F.
  9. Place the rolled loaf seam-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  10. Gently brush the top with olive oil or melted butter.
  11. Slide the bread into the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until it’s golden brown.
