Description

Bring the bold and fragrant flavors of Thailand to your dinner table with this easy Crockpot Thai Basil Beef.


Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs beef sirloin, sliced thinly against the grain
  • 1 cup fresh Thai basil leaves (plus extra for serving)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/3 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 12 tbsp chili paste (adjust to taste)
  • 1 sweet onion, diced
  • 2 bell peppers, sliced (any color)
  • Jasmine rice or noodles, for serving

Instructions

  1. Slice the beef sirloin into thin strips against the grain.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, chili paste, and minced garlic.
  3. Layer sliced beef at the bottom of the crockpot. Top with onions and bell peppers.
  4. Pour the sauce mixture evenly over the beef and vegetables.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 6–8 hours or high for 3–4 hours, until beef is tender.
  6. About 30 minutes before serving, stir in the fresh basil leaves to wilt and release their flavor.
  7. Serve hot over jasmine rice or noodles. Garnish with extra basil if desired.
