Amazing Ingredient Cream Cheese Mints Recipe

  • Author: basmer
  • Total Time: 10 minutes plus drying time
  • Yield: 40-50 mints 1x
  • Diet: Gluten Free

Description

Melt-in-your-mouth cream cheese mints are a nostalgic, no-bake candy. They are soft, creamy, and minty, perfect for holidays, weddings, or baby showers. This recipe uses only three simple ingredients and is easy enough for beginners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 3 cups powdered sugar, plus more for rolling
  • 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • Optional: Food coloring (gel or liquid), sprinkles or sanding sugar for decoration, candy molds for shaping

Instructions

  1. Soften the cream cheese by leaving it at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
  2. In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and peppermint extract until completely smooth.
  3. Gradually add the powdered sugar, 1/2 cup at a time, mixing on low speed initially, then increasing to medium-high until a thick, pliable dough forms. The dough should resemble soft playdough and not be sticky.
  4. If desired, divide the dough into portions and knead in a few drops of food coloring into each portion until evenly distributed.
  5. Shape the mints by rolling them into small balls and pressing with a fork, or by using candy molds or cookie cutters for decorative shapes. You can also roll the dough into ropes and cut into bite-sized pieces.
  6. Place the shaped mints on parchment paper and let them air dry at room temperature for 12–24 hours to firm up.
  7. Once dry, store the cream cheese mints in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks, or freeze for longer storage.

Notes

  • For the smoothest texture, ensure your cream cheese is at room temperature.
  • Add powdered sugar gradually to prevent powder explosions and to control the dough’s consistency.
  • Dry the mints thoroughly before storing to help them hold their shape and prevent sticking.
  • Spearmint, vanilla, or almond extracts can be used as flavor variations.
  • Color the mints to match the occasion: red and green for Christmas, pastels for baby showers, or gold for weddings.
