Description
Indulgent chocolate lava cake with a gooey center.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- ½ cup unsalted butter
- 2 large eggs
- 2 large egg yolks
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and grease four ramekins with butter. Dust them with cocoa powder to prevent sticking.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips and butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until melted and smooth.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, egg yolks, and granulated sugar until well combined and slightly frothy.
- Pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture, stirring gently to combine.
- Sift in the flour, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Fold until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- Evenly distribute the batter into the prepared ramekins.
- Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the center is still soft.
- Remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool for about 5 minutes.
- Carefully run a knife around the edges of the ramekins, then invert each cake onto a plate. Serve immediately, allowing the molten chocolate to flow out.
Notes
- Serve with vanilla ice cream or fresh berries for extra flavor.
- Ensure not to overbake to maintain the molten center.
