Ingredients
Scale
- 450g / 1lb shrimp peeled and deveined
- 1 tbsp light soy sauce
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 3–4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp ginger paste or grated fresh ginger
- 4 tbsp honey
- 1/4 tsp chilli flakes (optional)
- 2 green onions, sliced
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine light soy sauce and cornstarch, then add the peeled and deveined shrimp. Toss thoroughly to coat the shrimp evenly. Set aside to allow the shrimp to absorb the marinade.
- Heat vegetable oil in a non-stick frying pan over medium heat. Add minced garlic and ginger paste, cooking for no longer than 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add the marinated shrimp to the pan. Cook the shrimp for 1-2 minutes on each side until they turn pink and opaque.
- Pour honey over the shrimp and sprinkle chilli flakes if using. Toss everything together quickly to coat the shrimp evenly. Remove the pan from heat immediately.
- Sprinkle sliced green onions on top as a fresh garnish. Serve the honey garlic shrimp hot over steamed rice or as a flavorful appetizer.
Notes
- This dish is best served immediately after cooking.
- Adjust the amount of chilli flakes to your taste.
