Description
This Hoisin Beef Noodles recipe is a quick and flavorful dish perfect for weeknight dinners. It features tender beef, fresh vegetables, and noodles coated in a savory hoisin sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 ounces egg noodles or rice noodles
- 1 pound beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated or minced
- 1 bell pepper, sliced
- 1 cup broccoli florets
- 1 carrot, julienned or thinly sliced
- 2 green onions, sliced
- 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce (low sodium recommended)
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water
Instructions
- Cook the noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside, tossing with a little oil to prevent sticking.
- In a bowl, combine the sliced beef with 1 tablespoon of hoisin sauce and a pinch of salt. Let it marinate for about 10 minutes.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef in a single layer and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove beef and set aside.
- Add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil to the same skillet. Add garlic and ginger, cooking for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Add bell pepper, broccoli, and carrot. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until tender-crisp.
- Return the cooked beef to the skillet with the vegetables. In a small bowl, whisk together the hoisin sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and cornstarch mixture. Pour the sauce over the beef and vegetables, tossing to combine and heat through for another 1-2 minutes.
- Add the cooked noodles to the skillet and toss everything together until well coated and heated through. Serve hot, garnished with sliced green onions.
Notes
- For a spicy version, add red pepper flakes or sriracha to the sauce.
- Feel free to add other vegetables like snap peas, mushrooms, or bok choy.
- You can use soba, udon, or zucchini noodles as alternatives.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
