Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 24 Hershey’s Kisses, unwrapped

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg, red food coloring, and vanilla extract, and mix until combined.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  5. Roll tablespoons of dough into balls and place on the prepared baking sheets. Bake for 9–10 minutes, until set.
  6. Immediately press a Hershey’s Kiss into the center of each cookie. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
