Ingredients

  • 1 baguette or Italian bread loaf
  • 23 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 garlic clove, peeled (for rubbing)
  • Heart-shaped cookie cutter
  • 23 ripe Roma tomatoes, finely diced
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 45 fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • Optional: balsamic glaze, crushed red pepper, mozzarella pearls

Instructions

  1. Slice baguette into 1/2-inch pieces. Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut each slice.
  2. Brush hearts with olive oil on both sides. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 8–10 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden. Rub warm toast with garlic.
  3. Mix tomatoes, minced garlic, olive oil, basil, salt, and pepper. Rest 10–15 minutes.
  4. Spoon tomato mixture onto toasted bread hearts.
  5. Add optional balsamic glaze, basil, or mozzarella. Serve immediately.
