Ingredients

  • 12 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½1 cup marinara or tomato-based pizza sauce (thick, not watery)
  • Oregano and basil (optional)
  • Shredded mozzarella
  • Fresh mozzarella (optional)
  • Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • Dairy-free cheese (optional)
  • Pepperoni (optional; can cut into heart shapes)
  • Sausage (cooked and crumbled or thinly sliced)
  • Cherry tomatoes
  • Fresh basil
  • Bell peppers
  • Mushrooms or zucchini (sauté before using)
  • Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. Bring dough to room temperature for 2 hours before shaping.
  2. Place on lightly floured parchment paper.
  3. Gently stretch and pinch dough into a heart shape: Pinch bottom into a point.
  4. Press gently to form two rounded lobes at the top.
  5. If dough resists, let it rest 10 minutes and try again.
  6. Preheat oven to 450°F (232°C).
  7. Preheat a pizza stone for 1 hour if using, or use a baking sheet.
  8. Optional tools: heart-shaped cookie cutters (for pepperoni/mozzarella), pizza cutter.
  9. Spread pizza sauce over the dough, leaving ½-inch crust border.
  10. Add shredded mozzarella and sprinkle Parmesan.
  11. Place toppings (heart-shaped if desired).
  12. Add vegetables; sauté wet veggies beforehand.
  13. Press toppings lightly so they stick.
  14. Slide pizza onto hot stone or baking sheet.
  15. Bake 10–15 minutes until crust is golden and cheese is bubbling.
  16. Let cool a few minutes before slicing.
  17. Slice into 6 pieces.
  18. Garnish with fresh basil, olive oil drizzle, or red pepper flakes.
  19. Serve with a garden salad or garlic bread.
