Description
These Hawaiian sweet rolls are soft, pillowy, and subtly sweet, perfect for any meal. This recipe makes them heavenly.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup milk, warm
- 1/2 cup pineapple juice
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm milk, pineapple juice, and active dry yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, sugar, and salt.
- Add melted butter and eggs to the yeast mixture. Mix wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until a dough begins to form.
- Sprinkle a little flour on your countertop and knead the dough for 5 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough gently. Divide it into 12 equal pieces and shape each into a ball. Place the dough balls in a greased baking dish, close but not touching. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
Notes
- Use fresh ingredients, especially yeast and pineapple juice, for the best results.
- Knead the dough properly for a good texture.
- Ensure the dough rises adequately in a warm, draft-free spot.
- Allow the shaped rolls to have a second rise for fluffiness.
- These rolls can be made ahead and stored or frozen.
- Reheat gently for a fresh-baked taste.
