Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup unsalted butter, for frosting
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- ¼ cup heavy cream
- Red food coloring
- Chocolate syrup
- Candy fangs
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, beat softened butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth.
- Gradually add wet ingredients to dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Line a cupcake pan with liners and fill each about 2/3 full with batter.
- Bake for 20 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Prepare the frosting: Beat 1 cup softened butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar and heavy cream, mixing until smooth. Add red food coloring to achieve a blood-red hue.
- Once cupcakes are cool, frost them generously with the red frosting.
- Drizzle chocolate syrup over the frosted cupcakes for a blood effect.
- Place candy fangs into the frosting to resemble vampire bites.
