Description

These Cheesy Halloween Breadstick Bones are the ultimate spooky appetizer—crispy on the outside, gooey on the inside, and shaped like bones for festive fun. Perfect for Halloween parties, pre-trick-or-treat dinners, or potluck spreads, these yummy Halloween appetizers are kid-approved, easy to prepare, and a guaranteed crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (13.8 oz) can refrigerated classic pizza dough
  • 6 mozzarella string cheese sticks, halved (12 pieces total)
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon dried Italian herbs (optional)
  • ¼ teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 cup marinara sauce, for dipping

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the pizza dough and slice it lengthwise into 6 equal strips, then cut each strip in half to make 12 shorter strips.
  3. Flatten each strip slightly, place a half mozzarella stick in the center, then fold the dough over the cheese and pinch the seams tightly to seal.
  4. Shape each end of the breadsticks into a small knot or bone-like bulge to give them a spooky “bone” look.
  5. Place on the prepared baking sheet, seam-side down.
  6. Brush with melted butter, then sprinkle with garlic powder, Italian seasoning (if using), and sea salt.
  7. Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until golden brown and the cheese is melted inside.
  8. Serve warm with marinara sauce or your favorite Halloween-themed dips.

Notes

  • Seal the edges of the dough well to prevent cheese from leaking during baking.
  • Do not overstuff; half a mozzarella stick is the ideal amount.
  • Serve with marinara “blood” dip for a spooky effect.
  • Shape and refrigerate up to 24 hours in advance for make-ahead convenience.
  • Swap mozzarella with cheddar for orange-tinted bones.
