Greek Chicken Burgers with Tzatziki: A Flavorful Delight

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup feta cheese, crumbled
  • 1/4 cup red onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cucumber, grated and drained
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Whole wheat burger buns
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Tomato slices
  • Red onion slices

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, minced garlic, chopped dill, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
  2. Mix well until all ingredients are combined. Adjust seasoning to taste. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, breadcrumbs, feta cheese, red onion, minced garlic, parsley, oregano, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Mix gently until just combined; avoid overmixing to keep the burgers tender.
  5. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, about 1/2 inch thick.
  6. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Alternatively, you can grill the burgers.
  7. Cook the patties for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until they are cooked through and have an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).
  8. Toast the whole wheat burger buns if desired.
  9. Place a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun, followed by a chicken patty, tomato slices, and red onion slices.
  10. Top with a generous dollop of tzatziki sauce and place the top half of the bun on each burger.
  11. Serve the Greek chicken burgers immediately, with extra tzatziki sauce on the side if desired.

Notes

  • Use whole wheat breadcrumbs for a healthier option.
  • Adjust seasoning in tzatziki to your preference.
  • Grilling adds a smoky flavor to the burgers.
