This gnocchi with peas and sausage is a quick, one-pan dinner that delivers big comfort with minimal effort. Savory sausage, tender gnocchi, and sweet peas come together in just 30 minutes.
Ingredients
Scale
- 12 ounces Italian sausage (mild or spicy, casings removed)
- 1 small onion (finely diced)
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 16 ounces potato gnocchi
- 1 cup frozen peas
- ¼ teaspoon salt (or to taste)
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper (or to taste)
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- ¼ cup chicken broth or heavy cream (for a saucier dish)
- Red pepper flakes (to taste)
- Fresh parsley or basil (for garnish)
Instructions
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil.
- Add the Italian sausage and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess grease if needed.
- Add the diced onion to the skillet and cook for 3–4 minutes, until softened.
- Stir in the garlic and cook for about 30 seconds, just until fragrant.
- Add the gnocchi directly to the skillet. Spread it out and let it cook undisturbed for 2–3 minutes to develop golden edges.
- Stir the gnocchi and continue cooking for another 3–4 minutes until lightly crisped.
- Add the peas and stir to combine. If the pan looks dry, add chicken broth or cream.
- Season with salt and black pepper.
- Remove from heat and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Garnish with herbs if desired. Serve warm.
