Description

This gnocchi with peas and sausage is a quick, one-pan dinner that delivers big comfort with minimal effort. Savory sausage, tender gnocchi, and sweet peas come together in just 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 ounces Italian sausage (mild or spicy, casings removed)
  • 1 small onion (finely diced)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 16 ounces potato gnocchi
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • ¼ teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper (or to taste)
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ¼ cup chicken broth or heavy cream (for a saucier dish)
  • Red pepper flakes (to taste)
  • Fresh parsley or basil (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil.
  2. Add the Italian sausage and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess grease if needed.
  3. Add the diced onion to the skillet and cook for 3–4 minutes, until softened.
  4. Stir in the garlic and cook for about 30 seconds, just until fragrant.
  5. Add the gnocchi directly to the skillet. Spread it out and let it cook undisturbed for 2–3 minutes to develop golden edges.
  6. Stir the gnocchi and continue cooking for another 3–4 minutes until lightly crisped.
  7. Add the peas and stir to combine. If the pan looks dry, add chicken broth or cream.
  8. Season with salt and black pepper.
  9. Remove from heat and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Garnish with herbs if desired. Serve warm.
