  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the buttermilk. Mix until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
  7. Bake for 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Let the cake cool in the pan for about 15 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack.
  9. In a small saucepan over medium heat, heat the heavy cream until it just begins to simmer.
  10. Remove from heat, add chocolate chips and butter. Let it sit for a minute, then stir until smooth.
  11. Once the cake has cooled, pour the chocolate glaze over the top, allowing it to drip down the sides.
  12. Allow the glaze to set for a few minutes before slicing.
