- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder

- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
- Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the buttermilk. Mix until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
- Bake for 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for about 15 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack.
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, heat the heavy cream until it just begins to simmer.
- Remove from heat, add chocolate chips and butter. Let it sit for a minute, then stir until smooth.
- Once the cake has cooled, pour the chocolate glaze over the top, allowing it to drip down the sides.
- Allow the glaze to set for a few minutes before slicing.
Notes
- You can substitute buttermilk with plain yogurt or milk mixed with vinegar or lemon juice.
- Use Dutch-process cocoa powder for a deeper flavor.
