  • 1 cup whole milk (or dairy alternative)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (for caramel sauce)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream (warmed)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, brown sugar, ground ginger, cinnamon, baking powder, and salt until combined.
  3. In another bowl, mix melted butter, eggs, and milk until well blended. Pour into dry ingredients and stir until just moistened.
  4. Pour batter into the prepared baking dish and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  5. Allow the cake to cool slightly. Poke holes all over the surface using a wooden spoon handle.
  6. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt granulated sugar until amber-colored; remove from heat.
  7. Slowly whisk in warmed cream until smooth. Drizzle generously over the cake while still warm.
