Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Transfer to a large mixing bowl and stir in brown sugar, molasses, and egg until combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring gently. Add hot water and mix until smooth.
