  • 8 slices white bread (thick-cut, about 1 inch thick)
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley (finely chopped)
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt (to taste)
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese (grated)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup and to prevent sticking.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the softened butter with minced garlic, chopped parsley, dried oregano, and a pinch of salt. Mix until fully incorporated. If using Parmesan cheese, stir half of it into the butter mixture and set the other half aside for topping.
  3. Spread a generous layer of the prepared garlic butter mixture on one side of each thick-cut bread slice. Then sprinkle the reserved Parmesan cheese evenly on top of the buttered sides for rich flavor and texture.
  4. Place the buttered bread slices butter-side up on the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 10 minutes, or until the edges turn golden brown and crispy.
  5. For an extra crispy and golden top, switch your oven to broil and broil the toast for 1 to 2 minutes. Keep a close eye to avoid burning.
  6. Remove the Texas Toast from the oven. Optionally garnish with additional chopped parsley for a fresh pop of color. Serve immediately while hot and crispy.
