- 8 slices white bread (thick-cut, about 1 inch thick)
- ½ cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley (finely chopped)
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt (to taste)
- ½ cup Parmesan cheese (grated)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup and to prevent sticking.
- In a small bowl, combine the softened butter with minced garlic, chopped parsley, dried oregano, and a pinch of salt. Mix until fully incorporated. If using Parmesan cheese, stir half of it into the butter mixture and set the other half aside for topping.
- Spread a generous layer of the prepared garlic butter mixture on one side of each thick-cut bread slice. Then sprinkle the reserved Parmesan cheese evenly on top of the buttered sides for rich flavor and texture.
- Place the buttered bread slices butter-side up on the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 10 minutes, or until the edges turn golden brown and crispy.
- For an extra crispy and golden top, switch your oven to broil and broil the toast for 1 to 2 minutes. Keep a close eye to avoid burning.
- Remove the Texas Toast from the oven. Optionally garnish with additional chopped parsley for a fresh pop of color. Serve immediately while hot and crispy.
