Description

This easy fresh peach cobbler recipe is a classic homemade dessert perfect for summer. Enjoy the sweet, juicy taste of ripe peaches baked with a golden biscuit topping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups fresh peaches, peeled, pitted, and sliced
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the sliced peaches, 1/2 cup sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Toss gently to coat the peaches evenly.
  3. Pour the peach mixture into a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, 1/2 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt for the cobbler topping.
  5. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  6. Gradually add the milk and stir until just combined to form a soft dough. Do not overmix.
  7. Drop spoonfuls of the dough evenly over the peach mixture in the baking dish.
  8. Brush the tops of the dough with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
  9. Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the peach filling is bubbly.
  10. Let the fresh peach cobbler cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • For an even richer flavor, add a splash of vanilla extract to the peach mixture.
  • Serve this warm peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
  • If your peaches are not very ripe, you may need to add a little more sugar to the filling.
